My Favorite Black Friday Finds

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I'm stuffed full of a few plates of food (mostly pie, admittedly) and unable to do anything productive...so instead I'm online shopping. I love home decor and I love deals, so naturally I've been perusing some of my favorite retailers to see what kind of deals they had going on for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Here are the sales I found and some of my favorite items from each brand! *This post contains affiliate links. Click here to read my affiliate …

Weekend Sales and My Favorite Amazon Tip

I wasn't planning to write a post about the sales this weekend, but I've been poking around the web for deals so I figured why the heck not. There are some great ones to be had, and I feel like everyone has one big item they hold out buying until Black Friday. This year we're buying a soundbar....two actually. We chose this one, which is currently on sale for $98 from Walmart and is rated the best soundbar under $500. Also, Saturday is small business Saturday! If you have a business please …

Bed Shopping on a Budget

I've been bed shopping lately. "Lately" being a relative term, because it feels like much, much longer than that. It started off innocently enough, with Adam and I on our floor mattress, dreaming about what bed would be the one to finally lift us up off the concrete. Our bedroom is rustic and fairly masculine, and it has all the traditional elements you need for a great room - wood, stone, metal, white, some color, and plants. The only thing it was missing was leather. A leather bed would be …

My New Article Leather Sectional (and why I returned it)

I've always owned ugly couches. My first couch as a married woman was a floral beauty handed down from my parents, then shortly after I went out and bought a sweet, tan, bulky microfiber set. Adam and I  were on a tight budget, and there were only a few options in our little military town in Upstate New York. Shopping online wasn't an option....it was 2005 and we didn't even own a computer (can you imagine?!). I feel like nearly everyone has owned a sofa set like this, it's like a rite of …

Living Room Updates and Source List

Our living room isn't one of those rooms that is going to have a clear-cut start and end date. It's a room that will simply evolve over time, and one day we will look around and realize it is finished. That day definitely isn't today, but there have been quite a few living room updates happening recently! The last time I showed y'all the living room was about six months ago (Setember 2017), when it looked like this... And here is now, a little more evolved and a little less ugly …

2017 Black Friday Deals, Home Decor Edition

I don't know about you, but I love getting a deal. I will pick an item I want and stalk it for months, waiting until the price hits rock bottom before I buy it. My husband is the same way, and he will decide in March that we need something and be like "Let's wait and see what the price is on Black Friday." This year I'm on the hunt for a robotic vacuum, my house is a crumb factory and I would love to not sweep it by hand four times a day. (Does anyone have one of these? Are they worth the …

Living Room Progress + Dreaming

Well hey there strangers! Sorry about all the blogging I have not been doing lately, this summer hit me harder than I was expecting. Adam worked a ton of extra hours and the four boys were all-consuming, so I decided to put blogging aside and enjoy my kids until summer was over. The older two are back in school now (kinder and 2nd) and here I am! Having just a two-year-old and nearly one year old at home during the day is like a freaking vacation...they're so quiet. I love my older boys to …

Top 10 Places to Shop for Fabric Online

We are finally getting to the stage of building where I’m thinking less about the guts of the house and more about the pretty things. Hardware on cabinets, rugs, curtains, and fabrics are where my mind wanders to these days. For the past few weeks I’ve been spending most of my "stuck on the couch breastfeeding” time scrolling through fabrics looking for inspiration, so I thought I would share my favorite places to shop. I would love to be able to shop for fabric in an actual store, but I have …

The Search for a Vintage Farmhouse Sink

From the time I started sketching up our new house on graph paper nearly two years ago, I knew I wanted a vintage farmhouse sink for the kitchen. Not a modern apron front farmhouse sink that are popular today, but an antique one from the 20’s or 30’s. Those weren’t my only demands though, no...I also wanted it to have a single basin, high back, and double drainboards. I was basically searching for a needle in a haystack....a very expensive needle, as it turns out. SOURCE - $2,695.00 + …

Round Top Antiques Fair

The weekend before last Adam and I went to Round Top for their giant antiques fair, which is one of the biggest and best in the country.   Last year I went for the first time and was blown away by how insanely huge and amazing it is. It is miles and miles and MILES of fields and pastures, barns and tents bursting with unique old things. It’s kinda what I imagine heaven is like, if heaven was chock full of old rusty crap. Maybe it is, I don’t know. One can …

Things I’m Lusting After

Before we jump into this post, I just have to say thank you for all the comments on my latest post about the book "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie". First of all, y'all are hilarious, and second of all, you proved me right beyond the shadow of a doubt. It's funny because Adam loves to read (as an adult and a kid), reads to the boys all the time, AND my boys are familiar with the book....but somehow Adam has made it nearly 32 years without ever hearing of this book. Don't worry, it is on its way …

Cowboy bedding and the opposite of buyer’s remorse

Some things in life should be really simple. Deciding what to make for dinner, Christmas shopping, and buying bedding should all be things that you just decide on without taking up too much time or energy. Something like buying bedding, for example, should not require an entire blog post. But alas, here we are...I'm up at midnight writing one and you're voluntarily getting sucked into my drama. It started a while ago when a reader sent me an e-mail. She said that she had been shopping for …

Modern Southwestern Guest Room Bedding

For years now the guest room has been black, white, purple, and yellow. It's the first room I decorated when we bought our house, and while it was fun to do I stopped liking it a few years ago. When we ripped out the carpet and swapped all the beds this summer, I decided to redo the bedroom. Because that's what I do...start projects before other projects are finished. So far I've painted the walls, papered the floor (which I still need to blog about), replaced all the trim, and bought the …

Shopping for Southwestern

First, a confession. I have exactly zero projects to blog about. Lots of things are in the works, but nothing is at that glorious, complete, bloggable stage yet. And while I'm obviously pretty good at just not updating the blog for weeks on end, I thought that during this dry spell I'll take you shopping with me. Online shopping that is, since shopping in actual stores with two energetic little boys is about as fun as a trip to the DMV. So I've started in on the guest room. I know what …

That one time I actually spent money

Happy 2014! It's my first post of the year....and I don't have some awesome, creative, one of  a kind project for you. I have seven projects that are about 80% finished, but I just can't seem to get them to the "ready to photograph" stage. I also have about 14 hundred ideas floating around in my head and I just want to drop everything I'm working on and dive into some new stuff. But I will pace myself, because finishing stuff is very important. Because finally finishing  projects makes my …

Happy Friday y'all! Today I have a great giveaway for you...well, only if you think great is winning 100 bucks to spend however your heart desires at Kirklands. I for one happen to think that's pretty great. For those of you that have never heard of Kirklands, they are a home decor store (and you can shop in person or online).
