What is the name of the green paint in your living room?

casual living room

Y’all are not going to like this answer, but I mixed it myself. Green is a tricky color… I painted the living room green twice and it looked terrible both times. So I bought a TON of green samples and wasn’t in love with any of them either. By that time I had a ridiculous about of green paint, so I bought a five gallon bucket, dumped every green I had in it, and painted away. It turned out to be the perfect, and I had so much that I painted my living room, laundry room, and guest bathroom all the same color.

Will you build me a farmhouse table?

Farmhouse Table

Sorry, but no. Not that we wouldn’t love to pump out farmhouse tables, but right now we simply don’t have the time or energy. If that ever changes I will let you know!

What kind of paint did you use to stencil your paisley stenciled table?

Stenciled Table

This is probably the number one question I get, mainly because I forgot to include this information in my original post like a total noob. I used white latex paint in an eggshell finish. Here is the thing with staining over your stencil…..the flatter the paint you use the more of the satin is going to get absorbed. So if you want a bright white design you will need to use a glossy paint, and if you want something really subtle use  flatter paint.

Where did you get the stencil that you used on your paisley table?

Stencil a table and then stain over it

The stencil I used is made by Cutting Edge Stencils and can be purchased HERE. These are really good quality stencils and can be used over and over, but they are also not the cheapest stencils in existence. If you want to spend less you can pick one of the smaller craft sized stencils, or if you like their facebook page they frequently share coupon codes and promotion that will help you save some money. Also, if you use the code DIM10 at checkout you will save 10%.

I want to know more about how you paid off your house so quickly.

Pay off your house

I get this question all the time and I really don’t know how to answer it better than I did in my post. I don’t have some sort of super secret trick… it’s really just about dedication, hard work, and being smart with your money.  You have to live WELL below your means, keep a budget, and cut down expenses. I have plenty of people e-mail me all their financial information and ask what to do, and while I honestly don’t mind those e-mails and try to help, I’m not a financial advisor. I’m not even good at math. Just be cheap.  I know that’s not the answer y’all were hoping for, but it’s all I got. Seriously y’all…Dave Ramsey.

Where did you get the pencil holders in your pantry?

pencil holders as a spice rack

The pencil holder in my pantry are from The Container Store. I looked high and low on The Container Store website and can’t find those white mesh baskets anywhere…not sure if they stopped carrying them. I did find them in silverand here are some that are similar in white, but they are taller.

What color are the lower cabinets in your kitchen?

two toned kitchen

The cabinets are painted Grays Harbor by Sherwin Williams. I love it, it’s the perfect mix between navy and gray.

Where did you get your butcher block countertops?

butcher block countertops

The countertops in our kitchen were bought from Lumber Liquidators (cherry) and we sealed and installed them ourselvesIkea also has butcher block, they are slightly cheaper but only come in birch, beech, and oak. Also, this post is all about how our counters are holding up after two years of use.

Do you sell the furniture you make/makeover?

Furniture ideas

I’ve actually never sold anything I’ve made, I usually just keep it for myself or give it away to family and friends. Maybe one day.

What kind of epoxy did you use on your penny counter and how much?

penny counter

We used “Super Glaze” by Parks (RustOleum). Every counter will be different so I can’t tell you exactly how much you will need, but I can give you the stats on our counter.  One box of “Super Glaze” is one quart and the box says it will cover 6.4 square feet of surface. Our countertop is 8.5 square feet, and we used a box and a half, and the total depth is about 1/8 an inch.

Where did you buy the fabric for your dining room curtains?

cottage/farmhouse dining room

I buy all my fabric from fabric.com. The blue chevron fabric in my dining room is made by Premier Prints and can be found HERE. Don’t forget to google around for coupon codes before you buy from fabric.com, there is almost always a really good one floating around out there. Also, Ebates offers 4% back and you can combine it with a coupon code.

In your kitchen, how far is it from counter to the shelf and the shelf to the cabinets?

Open shelving below cabinets

The shelf is your standard 18 inches off the counter and the bottom the shelf to the bottom of the cabinets is 10.5 inches. We only did that though because we wanted the shelf to be at the same level as the microwave, if you didn’t have something like that I would have given myself a few more inches of shelf space. Not that I would want to lower the shelf….I guess I just need taller ceilings!

How is your painted shower holding up?
