Poured Paint Pots
Today I have a super easy project for y’all….so easy, in fact, that you should round-up your kids and have them help you. They will love it. Not that I let mine help… I waited till they were napping to do this, haha. I’m not crazy after all. Also, I am giving away a $250 Home Depot gift card! If any of you are at Home Depot half as much as I am then you just got really excited.
So here is what we are making today…
Yup, poured paint pots. You probably don’t even need a tutorial to do this, but here we go anyway….
Supplies –
- Cheap terracotta pots
- lots of different colored paint (any kind)
- paper towels
- tall glasses (or something to keep your pots off the ground)
- spray paint and spray poly (optional)
- kids (also optional)
(You can buy everything you need at Home Depot. of course)
First, stack up a couple of paper towels, add your cups, and put your pots on upside down. The pots will have holes in the bottom that you need to cover up. I was able to put the bar code sticker right over the hole, but you can use painters tape or cut a circle out of a paper plate. I actually recommend the paper plate method, it makes for easy removal.
Also, if you wanted to spray paint the pots before the paint pouring begins, then do that first.
Then start pouring your paint, right in the center.
Keep pouring…
And stop whenever you like what you have going on.
Then just let them dry, which takes awhile. I used leftover paint samples for mine, but I think some acrylic craft paint (in the squeeze container) might work better. My samples were kinda old and some of my pots turned out straight up chunky.
But chunky is kinda cool right? And chunky is free…I love free.
So here they are…
They look a little crazy all grouped together like that, but if you break them up I think they are pretty darn cute. They’d be even cuter if they were little kid works of art and not made by a 28-year-old woman.
And now for the giveaway! Just follow the instructions on the rafflecopter below…all entries are optional, so just pick the ones you want to do and ignore the rest.
Good luck everyone! Now go participate in the Bounty Challenge and do something messy!
I love the paint pouring idea…nice job. I’d love to be added to the giveaway…I desperately need to paint some rooms.
I don’t see a raffle copter widget? Maybe I am just confused?
Hmmm, it’s there at the end…it takes about 15 seconds longer to load then the rest of the page. If you still don’t see it let me know and I will manually enter you.
This is a fun craft; I’ve done it with my crafty little students and they totally loved it. It does work really well with squeeze acrylics, especially when you use high contrast colours. Now I want to go paint all my pots! :)
What a great way to use leftover paint and those old terra cotta pots. I love this and I am glad to know I can follow you on Pinterest now. :)
I love this idea! My grandson and I will be doing this project this weekend. Thanks for the fun stuff, and the chance for the great Home Depot card…….
My kids room needs a new paint job, we could use some Bounty towels to add texture and to clean up
I have spruced up a few of my terra cotta pots but still have a few left. I have been helping to paint all the rooms in my sons new home, and will be bringing the paint home with me so this is perfect for those pots needing some love. I would love to win the giveaway, I need plenty of work done to finish my apartment.
Painting my kitchen cabinets is my next mission
I soo need to repaint my patio furniture, Bounty would be a huge help cleaning up, because I tend to make terrible messes :)
That. Is. Amazing.
What a fun and easy craft to do with the kiddos! Love it!
Can’t wait to give this one a try! Will use bounty for sure!
The apartment I just moved into is a messy project ha ha. I could use these paper towels to help me wash years of oil build up in the kitchen.
This is so cool! So simple and so awesome looking. I’m going to try once my boyfriend and I move to our new house in a few weeks :)
